The Ranklist game of Call of Duty Vanguard is now live after Treyarch had discovered a “statistical problem” in the competition mode of the WW2 shooter. Since the studio did not give a time frame for how long the fix would take, many were worried that the long-awaited ranking mode could be moved for days, maybe even weeks. However, Treyarch has moved quickly to fix things back, and now competitive COD fans can unpack it and play the professionals in the Call of Duty League.
Treyarch not only confirms that the ranking is now live, but also gives the players some warnings when it comes to creating their loadouts. As the ranking game used CDL rule sets, many weapons, accessories and equipment that are not considered to be competitive are prohibited. Currently, the “Create a Class” menu does not show you which your classes contain restricted items and which are allowed – only when they are included in the ranking, do you experience it. Treyarch says, however, that this is sorted in its next update for ranking games.
In addition to the limited objects in the CDL rules, Treyarch confirms that even a whole series of other equipment are banned, including weapons such as the bar, the PPSH-41 and the new assault rifle of the second season, the KG M40.
Treyarch also seems to have learned a valuable lesson from last year’s League Play Ranklist Mode in Black Ops Cold was learned in which newly added weapons for ranking games admitted and then locked retroactively. This meant that weapons as the LC10 submachine gun rioted for a certain time.

However, new weapons, perks and equipment are now “evaluated on a case-by-case basis and only be made available if they are considered competitive and used in the CDL”. This should lead to a consistent, stable meta.
This new and improved ranking experience should simplify things and bring the gameplay as close as possible to the CDL, and that should be well received with competitive players.
