Have you ever heard from itch.io? The website is there for offering, selling and downloading computer games and software and has predominantly prescribed the indie games. More than 700 developers and authors around the world have decided together with the platform to help Ukraine. “As a game developer, we want to create new worlds, do not destroy the existing ones.” One had teamed up for a charity package to help Ukrainians to survive the agony and so they can go on after the war with their lives. The action runs until March 18, 2022.
Ukraine bundle: That’s how the donation runs off
The process is very simple: you buy on itch.io the Ukraine bundle and the money ends automatically in the donor pot. As is the conventional content of the platform, the package is provided with a minimum price. In the case of Ukraine bundles it is $ 10 (around 9 euros) use. Who wants, but pays more. The bundle includes just under 600 video games and over 300 additional content, books, comics, music. So far, around 2.33 million US dollars (about 2.12 million euros) have come together (as of March 9th 2022, 10:45 am). The donation destination is 4 million US dollars (about 3.6 million euros). On average, the previously 159,660 supporters and supporters have donated around 15 US dollars (about 14 euros). The highest donation was $ 9,000 (about 8,200 euros).
Ukraine Bundle: Here lands the donation
The entire proceeds will be split between two charity organizations according to itch.io. One half goes to International Medical Corps for medical assistance in Ukraine, the other to the Ukrainian organization Voices of Children, the children helps to cope with the horrors of the war. The responsible persons have already helped in the establishment of emergency accommodation. In June 2020, itch.io offered the collection “Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality” after the violent death of the African American George Floyd and gained $ 8 million (today around 7.29 million euros). The money went to two human rights organizations. The Itch.IO platform was founded in 2013 by Leaf Corcoran, a programmer from the USA.
